Hello, loyal Cricket Users!

I'm sorry to have disappeared from this list for so long. I have been
sucked into other projects here at WebTV. Fear not, though. WebTV
still counts on Cricket, and I am still committed to supporting it and
evolving it, though I will likely need to take breaks from it from
time to time in the future.

I am at LISA '99 in Seattle this week. For info about the talk I am
presenting, see http://www.gnac.com/four-star. Cricket is mentioned in
it, but we also talk about other tools I have helped roll out at WebTV
to make network management easier.

After I get back from LISA and finish up one more project (it's top
secret... I'd kill you, but I have to tell you first) I'll be spending
some quality time with the Perl interpreter (and, alas, the debugger)
as I incorporate all the useful comments you have sent over the last
several months into the Cricket source tree.

Expect to see a Cricket 0.71 (and, sigh, 0.72, 0.73...) in the coming
month. The critical "feature" I expect to deliver is Y2K
"compliance". I believe that Cricket is already safe from the problems
related to the turn of the year, but I will test it in a Y2k testing
environment we have here, so that we can all enter the new millenium
(ok, ok, the year before the new millenium) with some confidence.
