The way I do it is have cricket send out an SNMP trap, which goes
in some logfile, and then have Swatch (freeware log watcher) trigger
events based on a regex match. Works fairly well, except it needs
to be restarted every time the log file rolls over. At least for
v.2 Swatch.

You can hack Monitor.pm (I think that's where you'd do it) to send
email directly, but SNMP is the way to go for anything more than
a few machines or if you want to interface Cricket with HPOV or
Netcool.
