Actually the problem happens on a couple of routers just when they get
reset. The two that it has already happened to is two cisco routers whose
power reset to clear problems.
And according to the documentation of a 3com corebuilder 3500 we have the
values get reset to zero on power reset also. I would assume it is the same
for most equipment.
I will email the rrd people and see what they say about this problem. It is
quite a pain in the ass to set max values when the data scales wrong.
Like I said, it wouldn't seem to be too hard to detect a negative change.
